Microsoft Develops Software for China

Microsoft is investing in a China's IT company to develope management software for the Chinese market.

US software giant Microsoft on Friday announced it will invest 25 million US dollars in China's IT company Langchao Group to develop advanced management software for Chinese firms.

Microsoft's investment will be mainly used to help Langchao improve ERP, e-government software, and software outsourcing, according to the agreement signed by the two companies.

It is the first core business cooperation between the two sidessince November 2004 when Microsoft forged a strategic partnership with the Jinan-based Langchao Group in east China's Shandong Province.

Last year, Langchao led China's ERP business, with 50 percent growth over the year earlier.

Its ERP customers include 38 percent of the enterprises under the Commission of State Assets Management, 20 percent of domestic listed companies, and 35 percent of the securities firms, according to sources with Langchao.

"This strategic investment is part of our commitment made in the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the National Development and Reform Commission to support China's software industry," said Tim Chen, Corporate Vice President and CEO of Microsoft Greater China region.

"We hope that this investment and the strategic partnership will help Langchao, one of the leading IT service providers in China, to grow and play an increasingly important role in the IT service market. It reaffirms our partnership strategy, which is vital to our success in China, as we rely on the success of our partners to achieve our success," he said.

Market observers said the combination of Langchao's leading role in the domestic management software market and Microsoft's advanced NET operating platform are likely to have an unprecedented impact on China's information industry.

Langchao Group has two sub-companies, Langchao Information andLangchao Software, listed in the mainland stock markets and Langchao Electronics listed in Hong Kong.

The Group has R&D centers in the United States and Japan, and teams up with international IT big shots like LG, NEC, and IBM.

Abstract

Mobile computer devices (laptops, notebooks, PDAs, mobile cell phones, portable audio and video players, digital cameras, calculators, wearables, ...) are different from desktop/tower computers. They use certain hardware such as PCMCIA cards, infrared and BlueTooth ports, wireless LAN, LCD displays, batteries, docking stations. Hardware parts cannot be changed as easily as in a desktops, e.g. the graphic card. Often their hardware is more limited (e.g. disk space, CPU speed). Though the performance gap to desktops is becoming smaller, e.g. in many instances, laptops or notebooks can become a desktop replacement.

Hardware support for Linux (and other operating systems) and mobile computer devices is sometimes more limited (e.g. graphic chips, internal modems). They often use specialized hardware, hence finding a driver can be more difficult. Many times they are used in changing environments, so there is a need for multiple configurations and additional security strategies.

Though there are laptop, notebook, PDA and mobile phone related HOWTOs available already, this guide contains a concise survey of documents related to mobile computer devices. Also Linux features, such as installation methods for laptops, notebooks and PDAs as well as configurations for different (network) environments are described.

And though some caveats Linux is a better choice for mobile computer devices, than most other operating systems. Because it supports numerous installation methods, works in many heterogenoues environments and needs smaller resources.

General Motors is expected to announce a new laptop next week that's styled after its popular Hummer multi-terrain vehicles.

The carmaker has signed an exclusive three-year licensing agreement with Spokane, Wash.- based Itronix to make a portable computer designed for people who work outdoors: policemen, firemen, claims adjusters and construction workers, for example, as well as people who own a Hummer and are fascinated by anything related to the oversize vehicles.

Itronix, which makes laptops and tablet PCs for the U.S. military, said it wanted to style a new category of "semi-ruggedized" laptop. Priced at ,988, the laptops come with enough padding to survive six separate drops from a height of 30 inches onto two 3/4-inch sheets of plywood placed on top of concrete.

Industrial-strength laptops, which are water-resistant and can withstand extreme temperatures, are finding their way onto the battlefield and the oil field. Models like the Panasonic Toughbook, and Twinhead, with its Durabook line, also come with external body armor and internal shock absorbers.

Itronix Senior Vice President Matt Gerber said the company's new laptops were originally designed to meet the needs of military commanders in Iraq who told Itronix they were caught between using thick and heavy laptops used by the infantry and inexpensive business-class PCs from Dell.

"Halfway through the development phase, we got this call from General Motors asking us if we would make a laptop that reflected the spirit of their Hummer vehicles, which also has its roots in the U.S. military," Gerber said.

Itronix said it is using the same military-grade technology (vibration and temperature standards) in the Hummer laptop to launch its own brand--the GoBook VR-1. That computer, priced at ,299, has nearly all the same attributes as the Hummer-branded laptop, including a 1.86GHz Intel Centrino Pentium processor, a 12.1-inch color display, 512MB of memory, a DVD/CD-R/W combination drive, 8021.11a/g/b wireless connectivity and Microsoft's XP Professional operating system.

Both computers have a flip-out LED light to illuminates the screen and help users work in low-light conditions. The laptops also come with four wireless radios, including an integrated GPS antenna that helps Microsoft Streets and Trips map software locate your position and help you to your destination, Gerber said.

The Hummer laptop has the added features of an 80GB shock-mounted removable hard-disk drive (a security benefit for multiple computer users) and a swappable radio module that allows users to switch between North American and European GPRS/EDGE wireless plans.

Gerber said the company is currently discussing adding biometric readers for extra laptop security.

The Hummer laptop comes in black and silver with yellow, red or pewter-gray trim. Its battery lasts a little more than four hours; a battery extender pushes that to about seven hours. The Hummer laptop will be available at car dealerships that sell Hummer products or online at the GM-approved Web site Hummerstuff.com starting Nov. 1.

General Motors lost an average of ,227 per vehicle sold in North America during the first half of 2005, the most of any U.S. automaker, according to an industry analyst report out on Tuesday.

Laszlo号称可以稳定的对付百万人的访问，也不知道是真是假。试了几个用Laszlo的网站感觉上还可以，Flash容器也是一个技术发展方向，应该很有前途，就看Laszlo和Flex谁更猛了。

我们在曼谷机场傻呆了7个小时，才登上飞班加洛尔的飞机... 最后在小雨中像一陀屎一样到达了St. Marks Hotel. 由于回去的路线和来的时候相同，所以9.12又要在曼谷机场呆7个小时了...

这是在柯南的寝室拍的，离开杭州以前就寄宿在他那儿，因为已经被学校驱逐出去了。他那儿可比以前的5舍413好多了，空调，洗衣机，电视一样不缺，上楼还有电梯，实在是避暑胜地。





后来saisai吵着要玩Starcraft, 姐姐也想学，于是她们和feifei和我就跑到柯南寝室2v2, 那天玩的很开心，姐姐和妹妹是从地下道溜进10舍的，后来又从地下道溜了出去。



到了14号就要走了。姐姐和妹妹送我到了新桥门，我瞥了申亚最后一眼。当晚住在离浦东机场很近的一个酒店里面，名字忘记了。
